The buckles keep the skid plate in place without binding movement.

I like the skid plate. This is the second one that I have purchased. It definitely protects my dog.

Small fits my 36lb brittany with room to grow. Made with durable materials, easy to fit and adjust. He seems to like it and it doesn't restrict any movement when hunting, no chafing so far. Highly recommend!

I was looking for a chest protector for my 4 German shorthairs, something to replace my current name brand vests that were rubbing on their front legs and did not have an overall good fit. I wanted something that was fully adjustable and did not rub. I took my time to properly fit the skid plate to my dogs, no issues or rubbing after 4 full days of hunting. I guide pheasant hunts and run my dogs very often, my dogs need to be protected and comfortable when they hunt. I will be replacing my other 2 name brand vests with 2 new skid plates. Highly recommend!

Just ordered a new size to replace outgrown size. Our hunting lab is growing out and up.

So, we were out last weekend and he hit barb wire at 3/4 speed. The wire was covered with grass about 8 inches off solid ground. We was unhurt except for a couple of puncture wounds from being angled up.

The skid plate saved him from being cut chest to belly. We highly recommend this product. Now we need to patch it up but no regrets.

Our German Shepards are eager to go through heavy brush, to find a missing person, so far the Skid Plate is doing it's job, We only have one Skid Plate, so we will see.

I have a German Shepherd and a Malinois. They both field flush. The Malinois has very thin underside and this protector is awesome. Its sturdy and holds up to just about anything. I've never had one rip. I just wish this company made (top) vests with the same material and quality.

Shipping was incredibly fast and the product works great! Only had it for 2 days that I was able to take the dog out but prior products my brittney would come out of the raspberry bushes all cut up. Not with the Mendoza skid plate. It is a nice snug fit that has many adjustable straps for an extremely comfortable/snug fit. Will not be buying a different one as long as the skid plates are still made.

Just what I need. Tightens great and covers the vitals well. My Boykin is working and doesn’t even know it’s there.

Very well made. Ease of adjustment. My dog Tillie just loves it. Top notch product.

This is the 5th Skid plate that I have purchased. I have tried several other brands and none of them compare, regardless of the price. The Mendota Skid pads are the right measure of durability, coverage, fit, ease of getting on and off your dog and price. I hunt nearly every weekend during the upland season and this product handles the usage. I recommend the Skid plate to everyone who is looking for a solution to belly protection without issues of overheating or chafing around the legs. Phil H.

We have two labs who pheasant hunt and these vests have held up. Just got another one got our sons lab!

Got one for my cocker bitch, got size small but to big on her, after 2hours unpicking stitching then cut an inch off straps and sewed back together, fits like a glove would not be without it when she's working 👍😀

So, I own 3 of these skid plates in various sizes. They are well made and hold up to just about anything. However, they are obviously made for labs and flushing dogs, not pointers. I have had 4 pointing dogs and these do not fit any of them no matter how I adjust them. Sometimes they are too long, and sometimes they hang too loose around the neck that the dog eventually gets a paw hung up in it. I would love to see some changes made to this product to make it more adjustable. 1. I think some of the nylon strapping needs to be replaced with elastic bands so it will hold the dogs body tighter. Those straps could be lined with fleece to prevent chafing. 2. The whole design needs to be narrowed. Even the smallest sizes are too wide on most of my dogs. Not everyone has a lab. :)

My dog has a pretty thin coat on his underside. This skid plate really helped

Fast , friendly, great customer service, they brought our dog right into their business to be fitted, they were like family to us.

Good. My dog put it thru some serious tests, 12 miles a day thru heavy swampy cover. Held up well.

I thought my hunting season was done when my black lab was diagnosed with a flipped stomach. Emergency surgery saved his life but the new concern was protection of the incision and shaved belly area. The sled offered protection of the area from grasses, sticks and dirt and with the blessing of the veterinary doctors Jax was allowed to hunt. I called the Mendota company and talked with a representative, gave him the measurements as directed on the web site and he assured me of the size of the vest. It worked out wonderful. It was easy to put on him and Jax was able to run normal. I am so happy to have found this product and it exceeded my expectations. Thank you Mendota!!

We bought two vests for our labs to pheasant hunt in. Been on one hunt so far. So far so good!

Product is tough and reliable with no hot spots on my English Springer.

We see scratches and scaring on our field golden's skid plate which would have injured our pup's chest and abdomen if not for the skid plate. Purchased another for our second pup. Cool design allows for wear while hunting, training & hiking.
Always wear them when in the field.
